Lucas Raymond signed an 8-year contract on September 15th, locking him up through his age 30 season.

This is a huge win for the Red Wings, ensuring a future anchor of the team is on a long-term deal. Raymond's contract comes in at an Average Annual Value of $8.075 million, which is about what we should expect for a Moritz Seider contract.

Raymond has tallied 71 goals and 103 assists (174 points) through his first three seasons with the Red Wings. Comparatively, Larkin put up 140 points in his first three seasons with the team. While having a career +/- of -61 is concerning, Raymond has proved himself as a budding star. He is cool, calm, and collected in even the most heart-pounding moments. Through his first three seasons, Raymond didn't have the greatest crop of linemates, which would explain his worrisome +/-. Expect Raymond to be a plus player this year.

With Jonatan Berggren signed on a one-year prove-it deal and Raymond's extension taken care of, that leaves Seider on the slate to get a pay-day. With Larkin's AAV of $8.7 million, Seider should nestle somewhere between Raymond and Larkin's salary. Be on the lookout for Seider's contract in the coming days.
